Pink for breast cancer awareness
October is considered as breast awareness month. The observances of this began in 1993, when Evelyn Lauder, an American photographer, initiated the spread of awareness regarding the breast cancer. This was also the time when the pink ribbon symbol was also created in representation of the campaign.
According to experts, there are lots of hindrances that kept women from getting mammograms. Aside from lack of information, accessibility, financial concerns and time restraints, one of the top reasons holding them back from getting tested is fear. Such fear and misunderstanding end up increasing their risks for the disease.

Early detection is still the best in treating breast cancer
Regular screening for breast cancer, such as an annual mammogram and a breast exam during the annual checkup, allow the patient and the doctor in ensuring that the patient’s breasts are as free from cancer cells and can be considered healthy.
Screenings will also increase the likelihood of finding breast cancer early, when it's most treatable. Through mammography, the doctor can detect breast cancer nearly one to three years before the patient might actually feel a lump in the breast. Early detection is really important in curing breast cancer.
