Madonna named highest paid female singer

The latest edition of Guinness Book of World Records placed all-time pop singer Madonna as the highest paid female singer ever. Another history was made by the music icon when she earned a whopping estimated amount of $50 million in 2004. Another pop icon, Britney Spears, held the record in five years when Spears earned $26 million in 2001.

Success is nothing new for the Material Girl as she already hit the most successful female chart act of all time in the US and UK, with worldwide album sales of more than 200 million since her first hit, Holiday, in January 1984. The Queen of Pop also had more UK no1 singles and albums than any other female solo artist - including Like A Virgin, Into the Groove, Papa Don't Preach, Vogue, Evita, Ray Of Light, Hung Up and so on which landed her a place in the new Guinness Book of Records, published on September 28, 2007.
