Pacquiao triumphs over Barrera

Manny Pacquiao beat Marco Antonio Barrera last October 7, 2007 after their rematch at the Mandalay Bay’s Events Center in Las Vegas. Pacquiao improved his record to (45-3-2) over Barrera (63-6) for the second time. The Filipino boxer of General Santos City also won their first bout four years ago via 11th round KO

The long-awaited fight turned out to be a strategic display of effective aggression and counter-punching. Pacquiao kept his supremacy and surely didn't look distracted while he pounded his opponent into retirement. Barrera, being sharp as well, kept his feet in this entertaining rematch.

Pacquiao's trainers and fans worried about the distractions of Manny's extra activities aside from boxing prior to the anticipated fight. His interest flows to movies, music and politics, making Manny as a superb celebrity in the Philippines. Although boxing will always be his priority and he even visions more fights to come as retirement is still far from his mind. Not even an illegal 11th-round blow by Barrera could stop the blasts of Pacquiao’s punches.

Great boxing champions from Mexico are now considered the prime rivals of the Filipino boxers.
