Racial disgrace burns Pinoys with “Desperate Housewives”
A five-second phrase delivered in an episode of “Desperate Housewives” by actress Teri Hatcher offended the medical practitioners who graduated in the Philippines which served the America wholeheartedly. This made the Filipino communities to continue its battle against discrimination and prejudice that is present in the society.
The American Broadcasting Co. (ABC) already provided a public apology stating that the show has no intentions to offend anyone and the production clearly reviews their episodes to ensure that every broadcast has no offensive matters to disgrace anyone.

In spite of this, the Philippine Medical Association did not accept the public apology given by ABC and even said that this apology only insults all graduates of medical school in the Philippines and the Filipinos in general.
Filipino communities in the US demanded for a public apology in the next episode of the show. They wanted a thorough investigation of the show’s writers and producers to track down the origins of the line and provide appropriate lawful action on those responsible. The group stressed the cutting of the scene from the episode permanently and never airing it again that includes in all productions of DVD’s and boxed sets of the series. The group also called for a boycott of the series if the producers did not issue an appropriate and timely apology.
