The host country made it, China wins Miss World

Everyone cheered and expressed their overwhelmed gestures as 23-year-old Zi Lin Zhang was crowned the 2007 Miss World held in Sanya, China last December 1, 2007. She bested 105 other women in the contest and became the country's first Miss World ever.

Her astonishing grace and height overpowered her other rival finalists, Angola and Mexico at the 57th edition of the beauty pageant, which organizers said was watched by a global television audience of two billion people.

Contestants were judged according to various criteria including fitness, style and personality. Micaela Reis of Angola was awarded second place and Carolina Moran Gordillo, Miss Mexico, took third.

Most of the contestants were headed home on Sunday night after a busy month of rehearsals, publicity and charity events -- well, they all represented their own country very well after all.
